Before founding Monterey Consulting Services, LLC, Steve Grady started,
financed, and led a successful employee benefits advisor firm for 21 years. A $4 billion privately held financial services company later acquired the benefits advisor firm.
In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits associated with the employee
benefits advisor firm, Steve also enjoyed a successful corporate career with
organizations such as Caremark, Baxter International, American Hospital
Supply, and The Gates Rubber Company.
Steve’s unique insights/expertise stems from his 35+ years of diverse, firsthand
the experience set across multiple healthcare industry segments. Steve’s
direct healthcare experience includes employee benefits, self-funded and fully
insured insurance, pharmacy benefit managers, third-party administration,
stop-loss coverage, compliance, benefits technology, hospital system, and physician
group joint venture management, provider relations/capitation contracting
and negotiation both hospital and payer, specialty infusion therapy
and services, durable medical equipment, including specialty pediatric wheelchairs,
home respiratory therapy, home health nursing, disease management,
provider-based critical pathway development, case management, and healthcare
strategy, including value chain optimization and competitive analysis.
Steve has a BS in Finance from Arizona State University and an MBA
from the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State.
He is a former national advisory board member for United Healthcare and past
local advisory board member for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona,
Aetna, Delta Dental, and Employers Council of Arizona.
Steve attended and participated in international business seminars located
in Mexico City, Mexico, including Business Strategy by Michael Porter
(Harvard), Business Negotiations by James K. Sebenius (Harvard), and
Succeeding at Business Transformation by Michael Hammer (MIT).
Steve lives in Arizona with his wife and enjoys hiking, DJing, and surfing.
